Hyaluronic acid injection for girth enhancement: technique and duration of results

How many sessions, at what intervals, and for how long? Girth enhancement with hyaluronic acid follows a simple logic, in which maintenance is by no means compulsory — provided one understands how the product behaves over time.

Two to three procedures to begin with

Hyaluronic acid penoplasty increases girth. In most cases two procedures are carried out, spaced 3 to 6 months apart according to the patient's wishes: this is the best way to secure an optimal and lasting result. The same volume of product is injected each time. Where the starting measurements allow, a possible third and final penoplasty may be proposed. Beyond that, maintenance is by no means essential.

Why proceed in several stages rather than with a single large injection? Because the aesthetic approach to the penis follows the same principle as that of the face: one advances in stages, gradually, to let the tissues adapt and to build a harmonious result. Injecting too much, too quickly, risks a disproportionate or uneven outcome.

The result is built in stages, as on the face: gradually and durably.

A product that behaves like an endoprosthesis

At the end of these two procedures, hyaluronic acid behaves like an endoprosthesis: a significant part of the product remains, with very appreciable persistence. It is this property that makes penoplasty an adjustable procedure, yet a very long-lasting one — the result endures without degrading, or only exceedingly slowly. This is a far cry from the notion of a filler that “melts away” within a few months, as can sometimes be seen in other areas of the body.

Maintenance that is optional and infrequent

Maintenance is a matter of personal preference. Some patients, entirely satisfied, never return; others wish to keep the result at its maximum. But where it is considered, it is better spaced 18 to 24 months apart, to avoid a cumulative effect. Reinjecting too frequently would eventually build up product and distort the proportions. Spacing sessions sufficiently, by contrast, compensates for the slow natural loss without ever overloading.

In short, the logic is that of a solid foundation built in two stages, followed by optional and infrequent maintenance. It is this economy of means — few sessions, widely spaced, for a lasting effect — that sets hyaluronic acid apart from solutions requiring constant renewal.
