Non-surgical alternatives: what works and what is a scam

Non-surgical alternatives: what works and what is a scam

Between the one genuinely effective technique and the long list of unfounded promises, it is worth telling them apart. Here is what works, and what is illusion.

What works

Only medical penoplasty with hyaluronic acid produces a substantial and lasting increase in girth, as well as in flaccid length. The surgical technique, which involves reinjecting the patient's own fat, remains unpredictable as to its resorption and durability — particularly in a young, athletic patient. In other words, if the aim is a result that is both visible and lasting, hyaluronic acid stands as the reference, while the surgical route retains the uncertainty attached to the fate of the fat.

Only hyaluronic acid offers a substantial and lasting gain.

What is illusion

Medications, vasodilator gels and the like are of no value. At most they act transiently on blood flow, without ever altering dimensions in any lasting way. No pill and no cream makes a penis grow: the studies are unequivocal, and the promises circulating online are, at best, placebo and, at worst, outright fraud.

The case of vacuum pumps

Vacuum pumps warrant a more nuanced view. They can produce slight lengthening and slight thickening of the tissues, but at the cost of very regular and prolonged use. This is what deters most patients: they try it, then stop quickly, discouraged by the discomfort, the time it demands, and the difficulty of fitting it into an ordinary working life. The gain, where it exists, remains modest and fades as soon as use stops.

Telling them apart with full knowledge

In the end the picture is simple to sum up: one method offers a substantial and lasting result, hyaluronic acid; another, surgical, exists but remains unpredictable; everything else — pills, gels, miracle devices — is either illusion or a marginal benefit at the cost of discouraging effort. Knowing how to tell these categories apart saves time, money and hope otherwise spent on solutions that are none.
