Penoplasty: the mistakes to avoid before going ahead

Penoplasty: the mistakes to avoid before going ahead

Many poor results have nothing to do with technique, but with decisions taken before the injection even happens. Here are the most common mistakes — and the best way to avoid them.

The pitfalls to avoid

Steer clear of teleconsultation and endless exchanges by email or video call: an in-person consultation, allowing an examination, is essential. Do not chase the lowest price — be wary of product quality and of dilution, which some doctors practise. Stay alert to the volume injected, neither too large nor insufficient, and to hygiene. Follow the instructions given scrupulously. Have normal, reasonable and moderate expectations. And remember that a penoplasty resolves nothing of a psychological nature.

A penoplasty never resolves a psychological difficulty.

What Dr Auroy has observed over 15 years

Over fifteen years of penoplasty practice, the same mistakes recur:

The common thread running through these mistakes

One thing links these pitfalls: haste and misplaced economy. Wanting to move fast, avoiding the journey, paying as little as possible — these are the reflexes that lead to disappointment. Penoplasty, by contrast, calls for time, examination, a quality product in the right volume, and scrupulous adherence to instructions. Every shortcut is paid for, sooner or later, in the result.

The right approach: taking your time

At the opposite end from these mistakes, the sound approach can be stated briefly: consult in person, be examined, understand precisely what can be expected, choose quality over price, and follow the post-procedure recommendations to the letter. Having realistic expectations is also part of success. A well-prepared and well-performed penoplasty has no reason to disappoint; it is the preparation that largely determines the quality of the result.
